Published: 19-11-2014

ChemClear’s NSW state collection run is now complete.

A total of 27.5 tonnes of unwanted agvet chemicals was collected for appropriate disposal from over 150 chemical users, including 110 farmers participating in the program.

The retrieval vehicle visited 69 local government sites over a 5 week schedule and travelled in excess of 7,600kms.

Since 2003, the program has collected a total of 104,026 L/kg of hazardous agvet chemicals for safe disposal from NSW and 430,535 L/kg across Australia.

98% of the chemical collected is used as an alternative fuel source in the manufacturing of cement.

Most of the material is destroyed in kilns which reach temperatures in excess of 1800°C.

ChemClear’s next collection will be in Queensland in June 2015.
