Published: 29-04-2015

Australia’s leading agricultural and chemical industry stewardship program Agsafe is pleased to welcome Alison Carmichael as the new General Manager.

“I am delighted to be a part of the Agsafe team and to have the opportunity to lead this celebrated not-for-profit delivery organisation. Agsafe has been operating for over 20 years and I particularly relate to its role in encouraging individuals and companies to take responsibility for the safety of themselves and others,” said Ms Carmichael.

Ms Carmichael has extensive experience in membership-based and not-for-profit organisations in a range of roles including chief executive officer, consultant, senior manager, company secretary and board director.

She has qualifications in agriculture and adult learning, is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Australasian Society of Association Executives.

Ms Carmichael’s executive experience has been in industry organisations such as irrigation and energy efficiency and more lately with the national body for forestry professionals, all having accreditation or certification programs, and training and professional development courses.

Prior to taking up these positions, Ms Carmichael was a partner in a consultancy business. In this role, she facilitated planning and evaluation processes for NRM committees, Landcare and agricultural commodity groups, and oversaw development of training and communications collateral for chemical use, farm forestry, irrigation and rural water metering.

She is looking forward to the challenges ahead in her new role.

“I will ensure Agsafe continues to roll out effective programs so that Accreditation & Training, drumMUSTER and ChemClear remain well-known and respected brands in rural Australia.”

Agsafe Chairman Damien Ryan said, “We are pleased that Alison has joined Agsafe and look forward to utilising her expertise and experience to enhance the fantastic work undertaken by previous GM Martin Shafron in the provision of valuable and relevant safety and stewardship programs for the agvet chemical industry.”
